Two routes. Draw murderer on the role spin and you become the monster for free, or pay for the monster slot and skip the wait.
Short answer
The free route is the role spin — nothing to unlock, no code involved. The paid route is a Robux prompt inside the round. Neither makes you better at surviving; one of them teaches you how to.
The free route: win the spin
The round opens with the same role spin Murder Mystery 2 players already know. Whoever draws murderer does not get a knife here — they become the Locust itself and play the round from inside the monster. There is nothing to buy, unlock or grind for this; it is the default way the role is handed out. How the spin works is covered here.
The paid route: the monster slotReported
Recorded runs show an offer to pay to become the monster rather than leave it to the spin, with more than one creature to choose from. That much is on camera. What is not: the prices, which are not displayed until you open the prompt, and no recording opens it.
Guides that quote an exact price per round are quoting something no footage shows — the same habit that produced a five-second taser stun nobody has filmed and code lists for a game with no codes. The game is still labelled pre-alpha, so even a real price today is a price for this build.
One round as the monster is the best survival guide there is
The single most useful fact about this mode — that the Locust runs out of energy and becomes very slow after a long chase — is invisible from the survivor’s side. Players only describe it after playing the monster: “I ran out of energy, I’m so slow”. If you get the spin, pay attention to the bar. It is the reason running in a straight line loses and running a long way wins.
What the monster can and cannot do
It is faster than a survivor in a straight line, it climbs but slowly, it comes out through the television at the start of a round, and it spends energy to stay fast. It checks vents. Those limits are the entire reason surviving is possible, and they are catalogued in full on the monster page.
